Today I read about Sirens that are wailed and people bowed their heads and wept along Japan's devastated northeast coast Monday as they marked a month since the tsunami that killed up to 25,000 people and unleashed a persistent nuclear crisis. With thousands of bodies yet to be found, a tsunami-flooded nuclear power plant still spewing radiation and more than 150,000 people living in shelters, there was little time for reflection on Japan's worst disaster since World War II. "My chest has been ripped open by the suffering and pain that this disaster has caused the people of our prefecture," said Yuhei Sato, the governor of Fukushima, which saw its coastal areas devastated by the tsunami and contains the damaged plant at the center of the nuclear crisis. People in hard-hit towns gathered for ceremonies at 2:46 p.m., the exact moment of the magnitude-9.0 quake that spawned the tsunami March 11.

Today I read about , Authorities located four new mass graves in northern Mexico over the weekend after the arrest of a suspect in the kidnapping and killings of bus passengers, the Mexican military said. Sixteen bodies were discovered in the clandestine graves in San Fernando, in the state of Tamaulipas, which borders Texas. The most recent find brings to 88 the total number of bodies recovered from mass graves in the area. The military announced Sunday that it had captured Armando Cesar Morales Uscanga the day before in San Fernando.

Today I read about Farooque Ahmed, the man accused of attempting to help bomb Metro stations. Ahmed was sentenced to 23 years in prison. He had pleaded not guilty last year. In changing his plea, Ahmed admitted to attempting to provide material support to a designated terrorist organization.
He also pleaded guilty to collecting information to assist in planning a terrorist attack on a transit facility. Authorities found three weapons at Ahmed's home at the time of his arrest: a Smith & Wesson pistol, a 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun and a Remington rifle, along with ammunition.

4-11-11 Today I read about Japan to evacuate more towns around crippled nuclear plant. They are steel evacuating people from Japan. Japan's government called for evacuations Monday from several towns beyond the danger zone. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said. The municipalities are likely to see long-term radiation levels that exceed international safety standards. He also said and warned that the crisis of fukushima is not yet over. Things are relatively more stable, and things are stabilizing. But however they need to be ready for the possibility that things may turn for the worse.

On today’s newspaper I read how on Thursday authorities said how the killing of U.S immigration agent in Mexico last week elicited a forceful and coordinated response from law enforcement as thousands of officers raided suspected from Drug trafficking organization, in cites through Latin American and the United States. Eight people were arrested in San Diego and Spring Valley since Wednesday are among more than 500 people taken into custody in raids in cities that include Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Miami, St’ Louis, San Antonio, and Newark N.J. Four of them were arrested on suspicion of various drug-related charges and booked into court jails. Mexican authorities have arrested one person in connection with the attack, which is believed to be the work of members of Mexico's Zetas Gang. Former Mexican special forces soldiers are among its members.” We are basically going out to disrupt narcotics distribution here in the United States no matter what cartel their allegiance is to.” said Carl Pike, assistant special agent in charge of the DEA’S special operation division.

Monday- today I read about the deaths of two U.S. service members in southern Afghanistan last week being investigated as a possible friendly-fire incident, a spokesman for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force told CNN. The U.S. military has informed relatives it believes the men were inadvertently killed Wednesday by a missile fired from a U.S. military drone outside Sangin in Afghanistan's Helmand Province, according to spokesman Capt. Ryan Donald. The men were identified as Marine Staff Sgt. Jeremy Smith, assigned to the 4th Marine Division of Houston, and Navy Corpsman Benjamin Rast of the 2nd Marine Division out of San Diego. Donald strongly emphasized Monday the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation and no formal findings have been reached.

Today I read about Japan's government called for evacuations Monday from several towns beyond the danger zone already declared around the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, warning that residents could receive high doses of radiation over the coming months.Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said the municipalities are likely to see long-term radiation levels that exceed international safety standards, and he warned that the month-old crisis at Fukushima Daiichi is not yet over."Things are relatively more stable, and things are stabilizing," he said. "However, we need to be ready for the possibility that things may turn for the worse."And about an hour after he spoke, a fresh earthquake rattled the country, forcing workers to evacuate the plant and knocking out power to the three damaged reactors for about 40 minutes, the plant's owner, the Tokyo Electric Power Company, reported. The magnitude 6.6 tremor came a month to the day after the magnitude 9 quake and tsunami that knocked out the plant's cooling systems, and followed a magnitude 7.1 aftershock Thursday night. Neither the 6.6 quake nor any of the smaller ones that rippled across the region in its wake inflicted any more damage to the plant, Tokyo Electric officials told reporters.Japan's government said it did not know how many people would be displaced by the new evacuation orders. Evacuation orders have so far covered about 85,000 people inside the 20-kilometer (12.4-mile) zone, while another 62,000 within 30 kilometers have been told to stay inside, Fukushima Prefecture officials told CNN.

At first, Dill-Reese blamed his odd behavior on lack of sleep. But at the end of the meal, she said Wilson's father was stunned by what he tasted after taking a sip of his son's juice. The juice was an alcoholic concoction that was stored in a mislabeled container, according to a Madison Heights Police Department news release. "The container was apple juice but it had margarita mix in it," Dill-Reese said. Wilson was immediately rushed to the hospital, where his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.10, Dill-Reese said.

The padres are .500 they won 4 games and lost 4 games too. They started the first series off 2-1 against the cardinals in St. Louis . The padres almost won their division last year but then they started to slack off then they didn’t even make the playoffs, I hope that woke them up and got them hyped up this year to, not just win their division but to make a run for the World Series. They sure do have a great team this year even with trading franchise player from San Diego Adrian Gonzales..

Today i read about Japanese authorities Tuesday "provisionally" declared the country's nuclear accident a level-7 event on the international scale for nuclear disasters -- the highest level -- putting it on par with the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.
Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency announced the new level Tuesday morning. It had previously been at 5.
Regulators have determined the amount of radioactive iodine released by the damaged reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant was at least 15 times the volume needed to reach the top of the International Nuclear Event Scale, the agency said. That figure is still about 10 percent of the amount released at Chernobyl, they said.

4-12-11 Today I read about Japan’s Nuclear Disaster I read that many people are steel being evacuating. For the cause of the earthquake and the tsunami. That caused Japan damage on the nuclear power stations. People that leave from 12 to 50 miles have to evacuate. They have to evacuate because of the chemical the radiations have, and that could cause severe damage on human. Officials are checking for radiation by scanning them with a device called Geiger counter. People expose to unsafe levels of radiation have a higher then normal risk of getting cancer. Officials have used helicopters, fire trucks and water cannons to spray water on the reactors to cool the fuel rods.

On March 11th of 2011, there was a huge 9.0 earthquake. A tsunami was also reported. About 11,000 people have been reported dead, but there is 18,000 still missing, and 240,000 have been reported homeless.

Tuesday- today I read about japans destruction and how bad it is over there. Radiation is causing panic in Japan and those surrounding it. They are taking iodine pills and moving away from Japan. The generators keeping the uranium cool failed during the tsunami, and the back up generators are also failing, causing a nuclear meltdown. Workers are trying hard to prevent leaks in the plant, tons of water is being poured onto the plant to try and keep it cool. Many people fled Japan, others stayed to rebuild the people of Japan are in a crisis because of the tsunami.

Today I read about the Japans Nuclear disaster, Japan struggle, and Devastation in Japan. Last Friday Japan suffered a deadly earthquake and tsunami that struck the two nuclear power stations. The powerful earthquake started in japans east coast, creating a series of waves. The magnitude of the quake was 6.5 out of the scale 10 used to measure earthquakes. The initial earthquakes was on march 11, was a 9.0 was one of the strongest record. It was powerful they believed that the country actually shifted more then 8 feet. People exposed to unsafe levels of radiation have a higher then normal risk of getting cancer. Japanese government have been distributing potassium pills to calm down the radiation in the area. The pills help to crowd down bad iodine in the body that might have been infected.

Today I have read about the nuclear disaster in Japan. Many thousand people had to evacuate because of high radiation in the air. 750 workers were evacuated from the Fukushima Daiichi plant, but only 50 workers were brave enough to stay. These brave citizens are proud enough to stay and save other peoples lives there decaited for there country. Also if the people would have stayed they were guaranteed to get cancer cause from the radiation. Are on the other hand the radiation could cause the people to have there family come out deformed are something like that. Now officials are now working on a power line to restore electricity to the plant. They hope this will help restart the plant’s cooling system and stop the fuel rods from leaking radiation.

Today I read about the devastation in Japan. They are recovering after one of the strongest earthquakes ever measured hit the country. The quake began in the Japan’s east coast, creating a series of enormous waves. There are more than 1,800 people confirmed dead and almost 2,300 have been reported missing from the earthquake. They estimate that more than 10,000 have died. The quake struck Japan at 2:46 p.m. local time and scientist measured the quake’s magnitude at 9.0. The tsunami’s first wave crashed against the shore near Sendai it was more than 33 feet high. Around 350,000 people are now homeless because of the disaster. More than 10,000 people have died and police are in fear of numbers raising. Nuclear power can safely create electricity, but damage power stations may poison the air with radiation. They are removing people from the areas that might be affected. Around 350,000 people are now homeless, highways airports and train transportation have been shut down and many buildings have caught on fire after pipes exploded. One ship with more than 100 people aboard was swept away by the powerful waves.

Naso is charged in the 1977 murder of Roxene Roggash in Marin County; Pamela Parsons and Tracy Tofoya of Yuba County, California, whose bodies were found in 1993 and 1994, respectively; and the death of Carmen Colon in Contra Costa County, California, whose body was found in 1978, Berberian said. He is eligible for the death penalty. Although authorities have yet to link Naso to any slayings in Nevada, Chris Perry, acting director of the Nevada Department of Public Safety, left open the possibility of more victims. A tip line will be set up for people to offer information, Washoe County, Nevada, Sheriff Mike Haley told reporters.

A convicted sex offender who was on the run for nearly a week with his 14-year-old niece is now in the custody of Texas law enforcement, according to authorities. Matthew Mallory, 35, of Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, is being held in a San Antonio jail. Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputies caught the fugitive Tuesday night outside the city limits, Deputy U.S. Marshall Tom Smith said on HLN's Nancy Grace. Mallory's niece, identified by the Kingfisher County Sheriff's Office as Airel Daphane Ann Mallory, was "okay" but a little dehydrated, Smith said. Airel had been missing since April 5, according to authorities. Oklahoma authorities had issued an arrest warrant against Matthew Mallory for abandoning another child. A rancher spotted Airel and Matthew Mallory, her uncle by marriage, on Tuesday and immediately called a relative who works for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. The rancher, said Smith, "was out feeding his stock and he saw them behind a trailer changing clothes.'‘ Smith said Airel and Mallory did not see the rancher. Sheriffs' deputies arrived, "snuck up on him, tackled him and got him in handcuffs. End of story,'' Smith said

Today I read about Egyptians exulted Wednesday over the detention of their ailing former president and his two sons in a probe exploring the killing of protesters in Cairo's Tahrir Square, the center of the country's dramatic uprising earlier this year.Former President Hosni Mubarak and his sons, Gamal and Alaa, were taken into 15-day detainment Tuesday in connection with the protesters' deaths, according to Ahmed Hemeida with the Justice Ministry. Mubarak has decried accusations of his responsibility in the deaths, saying the probe is aimed at tarnishing his reputation and that of his family. Today I read about a free spirit named Kirby Brown who died trying to find her enlightenment. She was a free-spirited adventurer who lived in Mexico in an octagonal art-filled house on "Gringo Hill," overlooking the Sea of Cortez. Her high-end interior painting business was taking off. And on many mornings, she shared the waves at Old Man's break with the legends of long board surfing. "She was constantly looking for ways to make herself better, even though she already was an amazing person," said Billy Dahly, a commercial real estate appraiser from Denver, and one of her surfing friends in Mexico. So she headed to Sedona's mystical red rocks in search of enlightenment. There, she would be asked to get a buzz cut, go without sleep and fast for 36 hours before squatting in her bikini on the dirt floor of a makeshift sweat lodge. At the end of the five-day seminar, Kirby Brown's life wasn't enriched. It was over. Prosecutors allege Ray was negligent in the way he operated the sweat lodge. They say he didn't monitor the temperature inside or the well-being of participants and was indifferent to those clearly having trouble. They allege that his recklessness caused the deaths of Brown; James Shore, 40, of Milwaukee; and Lizbeth Neuman, 49, of Prior Lake, Minnesota.

Today I read about Japan raised the severity level of its nuclear crisis to the maximum level seven on Tuesday, putting the Fukushima Daiichi power plant disaster on a par with the Chernobyl accident in 1986.
The decision to raise the crisis level up from five to seven came after a review of the amount of radiation released in the month since the plant was severely damaged by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami, says Japan's official nuclear watchdog, the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA).
Level seven on the International Nuclear Event Scale (INES) incidents involve a major release of radiation with widespread health and environmental effects, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

He came back with photos of empty streets, abandoned houses left open, cats and dogs forsaken by their owners, and shoes left in a doorway, waiting for their owners’ return – but no people.

Today I read about 16 police officers in Mexico getting added to a mass grave. Sixteen municipal police officers from the northeastern Mexican town of San Fernando have been arrested for allegedly protecting those responsible for the mass graves uncovered there, the country's attorney general said. The police officers worked to cover up the killings of the Zetas drug cartel, Attorney General Marisela Morales said. Authorities began finding the graves earlier this month during an investigation into a report of the kidnapping of passengers from a bus in late March. The investigation led them to San Fernando, Tamaulipas -- the same place where in August of last year, the bodies of 72 immigrants were found at a ranch.

Today I read about, Mexican drug cartels considered terrorists? Most drug cartels are involved in murder, plot, kidnap, and dismember bodies. They're also responsible for shootouts, explosions, fires and other atrocities. U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, the chairman of the Homeland Security Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. Mexican officials have repeatedly said that drug cartels are neither an insurgency nor terrorist organizations because their purpose is neither to destabilize the government nor promote a political ideology. Their level of cruelty is unprecedented, but they don't hate a particular group. Their only motive, Mexican authorities say, is hard, cold cash.

Help me! Help me!" a woman pleaded when he opened the door, shaving cream still on his face. Coletti says he dialed 911 as the woman bolted, tripping halfway down his steep wooden staircase before unsuccessfully seeking help at a neighbor's home. Now, a year later, Coletti is convinced that the woman he saw that morning was Shannan Gilbert, a prostitute whose disappearance triggered an investigation that led police to discover at least eight bodies on a remote stretch of beach in Long Island. In an interview months ago, however, he said he couldn't be sure it was Gilbert at his door that day. Police say they suspect a serial killer or killers. Authorities in New York's Suffolk and Nassau Counties and in New Jersey, along with the FBI, are still searching for Gilbert, a resident of Jersey City, New Jersey. If Coletti did see Gilbert, he may have been the last person known to have seen her before she vanished. Yet he says it took Suffolk County police four months to question him, an assertion the police deny.

Today I read about micro-entrepreneurs emerge ahead of crucial Cuban congress. With a few taps of the hammer and some expertly placed glue, Elio Mendoza can extend the life of even the most well-worn shoes. Now, he hopes the Cuban government can do the same for the country's sagging economy when it holds the first Communist Party Congress in nearly 14 years, starting on Saturday."It's up to the Congress to improve things," Mendoza says as he replaces the heel on a pair of red flats. "We need a new culture: If you work you get ahead. If you don't work, you lose."Mendoza is part of a small, but growing class of micro-entrepreneurs, self-employed barbers, plumbers, taxi drivers and other artisans in a country where nearly 90 percent of the economy is still run by the state. A former steelworker, Mendoza says he wouldn't go back to working for the state."It's better than before," he says. "Before it was, yes boss, no boss. Now I'm the boss."President Raul Castro has begun the biggest shakeup of the Soviet-style economy in decades. The government plans to eliminate more than one million state jobs-- a full 20 percent of the workforce -- by 2015.At the same time, it has set down guidelines for the expansion of the private sector to soak up some of the unemployed, allowing Cubans to take out licenses for 178 different occupations

Friday- The owners of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi power plant must start paying up to 1 million yen ($12,000) per household to residents displaced or forced indoors by the nuclear accident there, Japan's government ordered Friday. The Tokyo Electric Power Company will start handing out checks "as smoothly and as early as possible," hopefully by April 28, its president, Masataka Shimizu, told reporters. Sole residents will receive 750,000 yen and multi-person households will get 1 million, Shimizu said, with the company's interim cost estimated at about $600 million. A government committee ordered the payments as an advance on the compensation that Tokyo Electric will owe nearby residents and businesses for the month-old crisis at Fukushima Daiichi, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said Friday. Edano said the government hopes to have payments in residents' hands by Japan's "Golden Week," a string of national holidays that begins April 29.

"You won't. I killed her," he added and hung up. The phone call ended after less than a minute.

The remains of at least four other people have been found on Long Island but have not been identified in an investigation that stretches back to December. The grisly finds occurred as police searched for Shannan Gilbert, 24, who was last seen alive in May 2010 in the neighboring Gilgo Beach area. Gilbert has not been located. The massive search by police and federal agents in Suffolk and Nassau counties, where the human remains located so far have been found, comes two years after the alleged phone call.
