The trail that led to Osama bin Laden began before 9/11, before the terror attacks that brought the son of a Saudi construction magnate to prominence. The chase grew more urgent last fall, when U.S. intelligence discovered an elaborate compound in Pakistan, a clue that eventually culminated in Sunday’s raid on a fortified and isolated fortress in the Pakistani city of Abbott bad. Details of the hunt for and killing of the 54-year-old bin Laden were still being assembled Monday, but briefings by senior White House and CIA officials filled in some gaps in the account of the investigation and death of the world’s most-wanted terrorist.U.S. intelligence officials were aware of bin Laden’s growing radicalism before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and began assembling a dossier on him.
Today I read about the death of Bin Laden. The decision by President Barack Obama to launch the assault that killed Osama bin Laden was one of the "gutsiest" calls by any president in recent memory, Obama's top counterterrorism adviser said Monday. The mastermind of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks the worst terrorist attacks on American soil was killed by U.S. forces Monday in a mansion in Abbottabad, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, U.S. officials said. Washington is nine hours behind Pakistan.

Today I read about the U.S. troops killing Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan . In the dark of night, U.S. helicopters approached a high-walled compound in Pakistan on a mission to capture or kill one of the world's most notorious terrorist leaders.
Less than 40 minutes later -- early Monday morning in Pakistan -- Osama bin Laden was dead, along with four others inside the complex, and the U.S. forces departed with the slain al Qaeda leader's body to fulfill a vow that originated shortly after the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States.
And as he announced the raid at the White House on Sunday night, U.S. President Barack Obama called bin Laden's death "the most significant achievement to date in our nation's effort to defeat al Qaeda."
One senior administration official called the investigation a "team effort" and a "model of really seamless cooperation" across agencies.

I have read about A Boy Scott troop from Lafayette, Louisiana, that was missing after a weekend camping trip in an Arkansas national forest was found safe Tuesday. The campsite of Troops 162 in the Ouachita National Forest was spotted by a National Guard helicopter. The troops were stranded by high waters. The officials were confident the troop was safe, saying the troop’s scoutmaster was very experienced and serves as a backpacking trainer. The age of the troop was about 14 years of age. The scouts themselves appeared to take the incident in stride. The area being searched was near the scene of the flash flooding last summer that killed 20 people.

Today I have read about a Teams searched early Wednesday for nine workers still trapped in a mine in northern Mexico after an explosion, Mexico's labor secretary said. Five bodies were recovered late Tuesday and early Wednesday. The deaths of miners Julio Cesar Resendiz Dominguez, Mario Alberto Anguiano Montes, Leobardo Sanchez Santos, Isaias Valero Perez and Juan Carlos Escobedo Chavez. The blast occurred Tuesday morning at the mine, located just outside Sabinas in northern Mexico. Authorities had to wait until toxic gases dissipated enough to allow rescuers to begin exploring the mine's tunnels, the state-run Notimex. A 15-year-old worker was seriously injured in the blast. He was transported to a hospital and had both arms amputated.

today i read about President Barack Obama has decided not to release a photo of Osama bin Laden's body as evidence of his death, the White House said Wednesday. The president said there is no doubt that bin Laen is dead and that a photo wont make any difference White House spokesman Jay Carney said.Theres a long history of images like that being used to rally opinion against people to turn people into heroes,Carney said.
Carney read quotes from Obama in an interview with CBS recorded Wednesday. While some people will insist on denying bin Laden is dead, the fact of the matter" is that bin Laden will not be seen walking on this Earth again, Carney quoted Obama as saying.

Today I read about, Five bodies were recovered ln Mexico mines. Authorities had to wait until toxic gases dissipated enough to allow rescuers to begin exploring the mine's tunnels, the state-run Notimex news agency reported.A 15-year-old worker was seriously injured in the blast. He was transported to a hospital and had both arms amputated, Mexico's attorney general's office said in a statement.Lozano took a critical tone in another Twitter post as rescue operations began, saying "having a minor working here" was a "fault of the owner of this 'mine.'"
5-4-11 Today I read about what Obama said about bin laden’s dead. He said that right know he don’t want don’t want to show no picture of bin laden’s dead for the moment. Obama was concerned that releasing a photo could serve as an "incitement to additional violence" against the United States. Panetta said Tuesday that he believed a photo would be released at some point. "I just think it's important -- they know we have it, to release it. I also read that one of bin laden’s daughters saw his father die and saw him getting shot. His daughter was about 12 to 13 years old.
Osama bin Laden was killed and the government said that it could happen. The pitch to join al Qaeda did not start with an invitation to put on a suicide vest but, like other religious splinter groups and cults, took advantage of disenfranchisement and poverty. We don't know that bin Laden was ever exposed to orthodox Islamic teachings. Three president Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama were on the look out for him. But I guess the day had came for him. When they had rated the house the authority had right to KILL him because of the things he had done. I guess they said he had his hands up and when they have them up there not suppose to shoot. So rite now they would have had him locked up but no. they wanted him to be gone.

4-5-11 Today I read about the article named American power after bin laden. For one thing, possession of power resources does not always imply that one can get the outcomes one prefers. Even the recent death of Osama bin Laden at the hands of United States. Special forces does not indicate anything about American power one way or the other. The U.S. accounted for more than one-third of global product and had an overwhelming preponderance in nuclear weapons. Some Americans react emotionally to that prospect, though it would be ahistorical to believe that the U.S. will have a preponderant share of power resources forever.

The nation's jobs recovery suffered a setback last week, but quirkiness in the measure of weekly unemployment claims clouded the picture. Americans filing for their first week of unemployment benefits surged last week, the Labor Department said Thursday. The number of initial claims rose to 474,000 in the week ended April 30, up 43,000 from the week before. It was the highest level since August, and a surprise to economists, who were expecting initial claims to drop to 400,000 in the latest report.

Today I read about President Barack Obama joined survivors of the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history at a Manhattan firehouse Thursday, days after American commandos killed the leader of the group behind that massacre. Obama visited the home of Engine Company 54, which lost 15 members in the collapse of the World Trade Center's twin towers. The president is also scheduled to attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the site where the buildings stood, now known as ground zero.

Today I read about, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton kept up pressure on Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi Thursday, demanding that he "cease attacks and the threat of attacks" against rebels who oppose his rule. Gadhafi must withdraw all forces from rebel cities they have entered, restore services to those cities, and allow humanitarian aid in, Clinton insisted. As long as Gadhafi continues to attack his citizens, we will continue to strike his forces," she said, according to a copy of her remarks released in advance by the State Department.

Today I have read about the Tornados that happen A week ago, a powerful storm system unleashed a swarm of tornadoes across the Southern United States. Dozens of communities have been impacted by the damage, and the death toll is more than 300. At least 178 tornadoes were part of the severe weather that raked 14 states April 27 28, making it the largest tornado outbreak in U.S. history, the National Weather Service said Wednesday. Do you live in a town that’s been affected by the recent tornadoes? Are you a volunteer or rescue worker helping with recovery efforts? CNN and iReport want to hear your story. Share your stories, video and photos. Post-storm conditions can be dangerous. Please do not expose yourself to a potentially life-threatening situation.
today i read about Images of the wreckage of the helicopter left behind at Osama bin Laden's compound by U.S. forces have prompted speculation that the chopper is a secret, highly-modified version of the military's iconic Black Hawk. The stricken aircraft, which commandos blew up at the scene, appears to be a long-rumored stealth helicopter, NBC News reported; a Black Hawk modified to reduce rotor noise and make it more difficult to detect by radar.

Today I read about a 15 year old girl who had taken her life on January 14 2010 because of being bullied. Mulveyhill and Narey, both 18, each received one year's probation, with special stipulations that include 100 hours of community service to assist underprivileged or at-risk youth, an order that they have no contact with the victim's family unless they get the family's consent, and barring them from financially profiting from the case while on probation. On the day she died, Prince was loudly berated in the South Hadley High School library. She was taunted again as school let out, and as she walked home crying, one of the students called Prince names and tossed an empty can at her as they passed in a car, according to the 38-page court filing painting a vivid picture of constant hazing. By 4:55 p.m. that day, Prince had hanged herself in the stairwell of her family's apartment in South Hadley.
Today I read about the despite mounting pressure from some lawmakers and dissent within the ranks of his top advisers, President Barack Obama decided not to release photos of Osama bin Laden's dead body, a White House spokesman said Wednesday."It is not in our national security interest ... to allow these images to become icons to rally opinion against the United States," White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters. We have no need to publish those photographs to establish that Osama bin Laden was killed he said. Shortly after U.S. officials announced the decision, a news agency published photographs it said were taken by a Pakistani security official shortly after the raid. The images, published by Reuters Wednesday, showed three men lying in pools of blood and the wreckage of a U.S. helicopter abandoned during the assault. None of the pictures appeared to show bin Laden's dead body. White House officials remained firm in their assertion that releasing graphic photos of bin Laden could incite more violence. To further explain the controversial choice, Carney read Obama's remarks from the transcript of a Wednesday afternoon interview
Today I read about President Barack Obama's visit Thursday is "acknowledging that this is what we're going through, that this is what New York is going through," said the firefighter, who didn't want to share his name. After nearly a decade of war prompted by the horrific events of September 11, 2001, Obama traveled to New York Thursday to meet with 9/11 survivors and lay a wreath at ground zero, four days after the killing of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. The president visited with members of Fire Engine 54, Battalion Nine, which lost 15 men after al Qaeda hijackers flew two commercial airliners into the World Trade Center's twin towers.
Thursday- There is "no hope of life" for the eight miners who remain trapped inside a mine in Sabinas, Mexico. Javier Lozano first made the declaration on Twitter and then in a televised interview on CNN affiliate Televisa. A sixth body was found Thursday, he said. If no one survived, that means there are eight more bodies to be found and recovered from the coal mine. Experts from Chile who helped rescue miners there in October were expected to arrive Thursday morning to help crews. At least two of them "participated actively" in the rescue of the 33 miners who were trapped for more than three months in a Chilean mine. A blast Tuesday morning at the mine just outside Sabinas left 14 workers trapped inside. Authorities waited until toxic gases dissipated enough to allow rescuers to begin exploring the mine's tunnels. A 15-year-old worker had both arms amputated after he was seriously injured in the blast. Lozano took a critical tone in a Twitter post as rescue operations began, saying "having a minor working here" was a "fault of the owner of this 'mine.'"The mine had only been operating for 20 days and had 25 workers who were not unionized.
Today I read about how Osama bin Laden threatens the United States. Saber-rattling al Qaeda warnings against the United States emerged on Friday as the killing of Osama bin Laden continued to yield a trove of ominous intelligence, including details about a possible attack on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Al Qaeda, the bin Laden terror network that masterminded the deadly attack 10 years ago, confirmed its leader's death on Friday in a Web statement and used that opportunity to taunt and threaten the United States. The statement, which congratulates the "Islamic Nation on the martyrdom of their devoted son Osama," repeated themes and threats made over the years in al Qaeda statements, before and after the September 11, 2001 attack on the United States. The statement happened to surface as protesters packed the streets of Abbottabad -- where bin Laden was shot and killed -- in a rally by organized by Jamrat-E-Islami, Pakistan's largest Islamist party. The demonstrators denounced the U.S. and Pakistani governments. After bin Laden was shot and killed, he was buried at sea in what U.S. officials described as a proper Islamic burial. "Any offense will open unto your doors of multitudes of evil for which you will only have yourselves to blame."
5-6-11 Today I read about bin laden’s wife's his first wife was 18 he married at 43 years old. Her name was Amal al-Sadah. They married before the incident that happens on 9/11. Bin Laden's bodyguard at the time, Abu Jandal, was responsible for delivering the dowry. "The Sheikh gave me $5,000 and told me to deliver it to a certain man in Yemen and that man in his turn took the money to the bride's family," he told the newspaper al Quds al Arabi in 2005. A year after the nuptials, Amal al-Sadah gave birth in Kandahar (within a few days of the 9/11 attacks) to a daughter called Safiyah. She is probably the same daughter who -- according to Pakistani officials -- saw her father shot dead this week. Qaeda leader had more than 20 children by five wives. One of his adult sons was also reported killed in the raid on the Abbottabad compound.

Today I read about , A suspected U.S. drone struck and killed targets in Pakistan's tribal region Friday, the first such attack since American troops killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden north of Islamabad earlier this week. Two Pakistani intelligence officials told CNN that 12 suspected militants were killed in the assault in the Data Khel region of North Waziristan, one of the seven districts of Pakistan's volatile tribal region bordering Afghanistan. The drone, an unmanned aircraft, attacked a militant hideout and a vehicle carrying militants. The U.S. operation targeting bin Laden intensified discord and highlighted the mistrust between Pakistan and the United States, which did not inform the Pakistanis of the raid in the military garrison town of Abbottabad. Before that dramatic operation, many Pakistanis had been particularly displeased with the controversial practice of targeting militants with unmanned aircraft because civilians have died in the operations.
A San Marcos man faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, accused of driving straight into the car of a San Diego County sheriff’s deputy. Deputies say Ken Pochinko, 33, was stopped at a red light at San Elijo Road and Questhaven Road in San Marcos around 6:30 p.m. Thursday when he made an intentional right turn and hit a car driven by Deputy Thomas Hendricks.Another deputy in a separate car witnessed the incident.Pochinko failed a sobriety test and made anti government statements deputies said. Deputies said they also found alcohol on the front passenger seat of Pochinko’s car.Hendricks and Deputy Sean Zdunich arrested Pochinko for assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence. He is being held at the Vista Detention Center. No one was injured in the incident. .
Today I read about Service dogs are common sights in stores and restaurants, but an Escondido woman who has what she calls her service cat is fighting for the right to take it wherever she goes. Bonnie is a fluffy 5-year-old cat, that's blind in one eye but is a lifesaver for Tracy Baxter. She helps me with stress. She helps me keep calm," said Baxter, who suffers from anxiety, stress and bouts of depression. "If I don't have her with me, I just feel like screaming."

Thursday that three Moroccan suspects loyal to al Qaeda have been arrested in connection with last month's bombing at a popular Marrakech cafe, the official Maghreb Arabe Presse news agency reported. One of the suspects was described in the Interior Ministry statement as the main figure in the April 28 bombing that killed 16 people and injured 21, according to the MAP report. The ministry statement described the bombing as a terrorist attack. The bombing occurred around 11 a.m. at Cafe Argana in Marrakech's old city, which is designated by the United Nations' cultural arm as a World Heritage Site. Tourists flock to the old city this time of the year, and it is usually packed with stalls, storytellers and snake-charmers. The suspects learned on the Internet how to make the two remote-detonated explosive devices used in the bombing, the ministry statement said. The attackers chose Cafe Argana as the target because of its popularity, and dressed as tourists to access the area, the statement said.
A federal grand jury has indicted a 60-year-old homeless man on charges that he set off a bomb outside a southern California synagogue in April, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
Ron Hirsch was arrested in Ohio following the April 7 bombing at Chabad House in Santa Monica, California. The blast shattered windows outside the suburban Los Angeles building and launched a chunk of concrete and steel pipe into the roof of a home next door, but caused no injuries.
The four-count indictment charges Hirsch with posessing and using an explosive device to damage property, to commit a federal felony and to commit a violent crime, according to the U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles. He would face 45 to 70 years in prison if convicted on those charges, prosecutors said.
Police said Hirsch -- who also used the names Ronald Jay Fisher and Israel Fisher -- had been known to panhandle outside synagogues. No motive was immediately disclosed.
Friday- Today I read about Osama Bin Laden’s death and how Al Qaeda is still planning to attack the U.S. and aren’t planning to stop. Bin Laden's death will serve as a "curse that chases the Americans and their agents, and goes after them inside and outside their countries," the message said. "We will not deviate from that or change until Allah judges between us and between our enemy with truth. Indeed, He is the best of all judges. Nothing will harm us after that, until we see either victory and success and conquest and empowerment, or we die trying."

The jobs recovery picked up speed in April, as business payrolls swelled and the unemployment rate rose as more people returned to the workforce. The economy added 244,000 jobs in the month, the Labor Department reported Friday. That's up from the 221,000 jobs gained in March. Economists surveyed by CNNMoney were expecting a slight slowdown to a gain of just 185,000 jobs.Job growth has been strong since the beginning of the year, with 768,000 jobs added since January. And Friday's report also showed that 46,000 more jobs were added in February and March than previously thought.
Today I read about how people can drink themselves to death. There are places you can go called “wet houses” which receive funds from the state and is operated by Catholic Charities. People admitted are allowed to drink on site. The theory is that it's better to allow these guys to drink in a safe place than to end up on the streets and in the city's emergency rooms, jails, and detox centers. At one wet house called St. Anthony, they have access to nurses - and doctors if the situation warrants - plus on-site case managers to aid in their addiction. Ideally, St. Anthony's counselors want the residents to sober up, but they realize that there isn't a strong chance of that happening.
