4-9-11 Today I read about the article Japanese nuclear plant to go off line after PM's warning. I read that a A Japanese nuclear plant will shut down its reactors after the country's prime. Minister warned it was vulnerable to natural disasters, its owner announced Monday. Also that a company named Chubu is going to take two of its reactors at the hamaoka nuclear plant. Off line and not bring a third back on line, effectively shutting down the plant. Prime Minister Naoto Kan said last week that the plant located on the Pacific coast in Omaezaki, southwest of Tokyo. Could produce "grave damage to Japan" similar to the problems at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, and wanted earthquake and tsunami protections put in place.

perhaps only one in 50 of every “positive” newborn screening tests detects actual disease, estimates Dr. Philip M. Farrell, a professor of pediatrics and population health sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. But that average can vary widely. On average, for every 10 positive screening tests for cystic fibrosis, one child will actually have the disease, Farrell said. But for the disorder congenital adrenal hyperplasia — which can cause boys to enter puberty at age 2 or 3 — there are between 100 and 200 false positives for every child truly affected. “In my opinion, it’s just tragic that parents have to suffer and think about their child having a chronic illness when the child is perfect healthy,” said Audrey Tluczek, an assistant professor and psychologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing.

The padres won every game this weekend, lets see if they can keep their streak moving. The Padres had their beer fest on Friday, and they won maybe its because they had a lot of fans present. The padres have one of the worst records in the MLB but they are actually a great team. Maybe they snapped out of their IDK how to play Baseball mentality. Yesterday they scored 4 runs and Heath Bell came up with a save.

I have read about the Mississippi River is cresting at Memphis, as attention began turning to flooding concerns in Louisiana and Mississippi. The slow passing of the bulge of water working its way from north to south along the Mississippi is only the beginning of the end of the siege for Memphis residents, who could be dealing with high water levels into June. And the struggle is just getting started for residents of Mississippi and Louisiana, where the river is expected to rise over the next few days to levels unseen since 1927. As has been the case upriver from Missouri south to Tennessee, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is predicting its system of levees and flood walls will hold, keeping the river from inundating the small towns and farms that line its banks.
Tuesday- Today I read about Osama bin laden. In the article I read it mentions that people think Osama's death was faked and that it’s a lie. Others say that why would the u.s. lie about something that serious. Also people think that it was a good Idea to take out Osama and that it was the right thing to do after 911. But with so many terrorist that are unhappy about Osama's death may lead to more violence and life's loss. And it is only a matter of time for some terrorist to plan another bomb attack in the u.s. Some people think the next attack might be in San Diego because we got the biggest navy base down here. There is not much to do about it but wait and be well prepared.

Today I read about Relatives of Osama bin Laden want proof that the terrorist leader is dead and are calling for an investigation into how he was killed, according to Jean Sasson, an author who helped one of bin Laden's sons write a memoir. They just really want some answers and they would just really like to know what exactly happened, why they were not. The United States says U.S. Navy SEALs killed bin Laden during a May 2 raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan, where he was hiding out. The forces collected a trove of intelligence from the compound and later buried bin Laden's body at sea. While the Obama administration has decided not to release photos of the slain bin Laden, some U.S. lawmakers will be allowed to view them. Bin Laden's relatives "would like to have been able to have witnessed seeing the body, at least identified the body, because they really need proof or people start believing -- this has been discussed by a lot more people than me -- that many people will not believe that he's dead.

Wednesday- Today I read about how Osama bin Laden’s death affected his son Omar bin Laden. They just really want some answers, and they would just really like to know what exactly happened, why they weren't called for the matter of his death. For Omar bin Laden his dad was a hero because of the war against the Russian’s. But then he was turned into the worlds biggest enemy because of 9/11. All he wants is proof his father is dead and answers to why he didn’t get a court trial.
Today I read about the full horror of Japan’s rising death toll became more apparent over the weekend, the nation’s woes were compounded by the crisis at the Fukushima power plant. Two explosions have rocked the plant in recent days, as scientists battle to contain a nuclear disaster. But beyond the immediate horror of the latest catastrophe to grip Japan, fresh questions are now being asked about the safety of nuclear power in general.Experts say the crisis is likely, at the very least, to prompt an urgent review of safety procedures at nuclear plants across the UK.
Today I read something about immigrants having babies in the U.S. The law was talking about if they should or shouldn’t let immigrants have their kids here in the states. Most people are saying it should stay the same. It’s not the baby’s fault they should let them be part of the rest of us latinos. On the other hand whites are being real scandelous and are voting for the law not to pass. I personally vote for the right thing we should let anyone that’s in the states get a chance. You never know he/she can be the next president.

This morning I read about how a mother killed her own baby. After a second day of jury selection in the Casey Anthony murder trial, more prospective jurors facing weeks and possibly months away from home, family, work and school have been excused. While a few were dismissed for expressing opinions about the defendant, most were let go after revealing compelling hardship issues during questioning by the judge and lawyers from both sides. One woman in her 50s, who works at a hospice, said she cannot go weeks without an income. Her employer would not compensate her during the trial and she said she would not be able to pay her mortgage. Another woman said she is in school and would have no one to care for her 4-year-old daughter. The obstacles to serving represent a vivid cross-section of everyday struggles for Americans, especially in a fragile economic recovery. Financial difficulties, chronic illness, single parents trying to care for children while earning a living were among the excuses offered in court. The judge in the case, Belvin Perry, previously ruled that the jury would be sequestered throughout the trial.

"This tragedy is a reminder to all of us that whether they are facing down a criminal suspect with a weapon, or patrolling the highways and deserts, these law enforcement professionals encounter life-threatening dangers every day,"
Today I read about drugs. The easiest drug to gain accesses to is marijuana. Many people around the world smoke marijuana legally and illegally. Also many people think weed is a starter drug that may lead to other drugs such as cocaine Krystal meth and heroin. That’s one of the reasons why so many people are against weed. Other people are for weed as a medical medication. Lots of sick people smoke weed to help their illnesses and bad conditions. So wee can not be so bad after all.

Today I read about L'Orca lost out to L'Humpback on Thursday. Well, kinda. L'Orca, a 38-foot sailboat out of Portland, Oregon, was participating in the Oregon International Offshore race in the Pacific Ocean on Thursday morning when a breaching humpback whale crashed down onto the vessel, crushing its mast and rigging and knocking it out of the race to Victoria, British Columbia. The sailboat was about a half-hour into the race when the whale struck about 9:30 a.m. It looked to be a humpback whale, about 30 feet in length roughly. It hit the mast about halfway to three-quarters of the way up, and then proceeded to fall forward and on the starboard side of the boat. The mast came down as well as the forestay and all the rigging, and our tow rail and all our life lines on the starboard side of the boat were demolished, as well," crewmember Ryan Barnes, whose father owns L'Orca, said in a Coast Guard video. The sailboat's crew was in the cockpit when the whale struck and no one was hurt, Barnes said. A U.S. Coast Guard motor lifeboat escorted the L'Orca back to Astoria, Oregon. While the L'Orca's crew of six didn't end the day with a victory, they did come home with a trophy of sorts - a dish full of bits of flesh the breaching leviathan left behind. I have some nice pieces of whale blubber as souvenirs and proof of what happened.

Friday. Today I read about Wikileaks of classified government documents about Guantanamo Bay detainees. The mastermind behind the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, plotted many attacks on the U.S. according to the documents. Plots such as blowing up the Brooklyn bridge, blowing up apartments and gasoline stations. Law enforcement does not believe many of the stuff written down on the documents since it seems unrealistic. However, as unrealistic as it may sound, many of those things can actually happen. In the category for failed plots, the documents show that Mohammed is displeased since he did not hit the White House in the September 11 attacks. This means there is still a chance that they will try to hit the White House.

Monday - Today I read about the International Criminal Court requesting warrants for the arrest of the Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, his brother-in-law, and his son. The chief prosecutor of the ICC says there is evidence supporting that Gadhafi commited crimes against humanity in order to maintain power. It is something that has been going on for many months.
