The padres need to win at least 2 of 3 games in every series but they way that their playing I doubt that will happen. It seems that the padres only win on the road since the padres never win for their hometown fans. The padres are 8-18 at home how sad.

Tuesday. Today I read about a 31-year-old African-American lady named China Arnold, who was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. She is convicted for killing her month-old baby by putting the baby in the microwave. The defense had told the jury, in order to avoid the death penalty, that at the time of the killing China was drunk. The defense also claimed that Arnold has no prior criminal history. She was accused in 2005, for putting the baby in the microwave, and turning it on, after a fight with her boyfriend. Many of Arnold’s supporters say that she is innocent, and that her conviction is an unjust act of racism. In 2008 Arnold had a mistrial, when an 8-year-old boy came forth, and claimed that he saw another child put Talley (the month-old baby in the microwave. On her second trial, China was found guilty, but eventually that conviction was overturned since the cellmate making the testimony kept changing it up. If this lady is guilty, I hope she does spend the rest of her life in prison, and that every night she is tortured by the remorseful thought of what she did. The conviction of no parole is a just thing, and this is not an act of racism. Anybody, from any race, who commits a crime like this, deserves life in prison, or maybe even the death penalty.

Today I read about underwater drug smuggling . Military checkpoints line the long and winding road from the airport in Cali, Colombia, to the coastal city of Buenaventura. These are expected sights in the long-running conflict we know as the "war on drugs." Plan Colombia, legislation passed during the Clinton administration, provided billions in military aid to Colombia to help halt the cultivation and transport of cocaine. It has had only mixed success.Buenaventura, a strategic port city and maritime gateway to Central and North America, is a haven for the newest clandestine agent in the illegal drug trade: the "narco-sub." As this decades-old conflict has ebbed and flowed, one thing has remained constant: the sheer ingenuity of narco-traffickers to invent and exploit new methods and routes for smuggling.

A murder conviction has been set aside by the Supreme Court over an unusual interpretation of a federal witness-tampering law. The justices, by a 7-2 vote Thursday, said lower courts should re-examine whether Charles Fowler deserves a new trial after being sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of a police officer in Florida. At issue is whether he can be convicted of murder under a federal law that is part of the federal witness-tampering statute without proof the policeman intended specifically to notify federal law enforcement officers of a pending crime. The incident happened in 1998, when Fowler and several men prepared to rob a bank. They gathered at a cemetery to put on black clothing, and began using drugs and alcohol, according to court records. A struggle ensued with several of the suspects, and the officer was shot to death with his own handgun. Fowler was implicated as the shooter. Horner left behind a wife and children.

Today I read about the homophobia heard in the NBA. There were gay slurs hurled by three figures in professional sports in the last month; Kobe Bryant, Joakim Noah and Roger McDowell. Kobe Bryant spit a slur to the referee that gays find offensive. He quickly apologized and was fined $100,000. He was angry that the referee penalized him for a technical foul. Roger McDowell made anti-gay slurs at a group of fans in San Francisco. He also made crude gestures at the fans, in full view of children who were in the crowd. I think the homophobia in sports is stupid and unfair, I feel like there’s no need to add remarks that are hurtful just because people are different and just because you are famous. I think that makes you look like a jackass in front of the whole world, and many people look up to these famous sports players. I mean, they represent things, sports. I don’t understand why they would want to represent hatred and homophobia.

That amounted to a victory for the pro-Western government, witch arrested Mladic on Thursday, risking the wrath of the nationalist old guard in a country with a history of much larger and more virulent protests. Doctors said six police officers were brought to a hospital with minor injuries. Police remained on the streets as the crowds broke up. The clashes began after a rally that drew at least 7,000 demonstrators, many singing nationalists songs and carrying banners honoring Mladic, the former Bosnian Serb military commander. Some chanted right wing slogans and a few gave Nazi salutes. Supporters of the extreme nationalist Serbian Radical Party were bused in to attend the rally. Right wing extremists and hooligan groups also urged followers to appear in large numbers, creating the biggest test of Serbian sentiment and the government’s resolve since Mladic’s arrest.

Today- A Muslim preacher and a handful of bodyguards died in the "treacherous and cowardly" shelling Friday of the mosque at Yemen's presidential palace, an ambush that also injured the president and prime minister, government sources said. Attackers assaulted the mosque as the president and other senior officials gathered for weekly Muslim prayer. The attack comes amid fears of all-out civil war in Yemen, as government forces and people alleged to be tribesmen slugged it out in the capital. Anti-government demonstrators upset over what they regard as political oppression and government corruption have poured onto the streets of the impoverished country for months to demand that Saleh step down.

Today I read about the Chula Vista police officer that was in custody Friday for allegedly cheating while gambling. Jesus A. Salazar, was arrested Thursday night at Sycuan Casino and booked into county jail on suspicion of the misdemeanor charge, with bail set at $10,000. Salazar, a nine-year CVPD veteran assigned to patrol duties, was playing blackjack when he allegedly was caught "capping," or surreptitiously adding chips to a winning bet after a round of play is complete.

The NFL Lockout is hurting every team in the NFL the rookies haven't got paid a cent for their contracts. The free agents all havent got signed yet. The teams cant hold practices for the whole team and the rookies cant learn the plays or their formations, the players say if the NFL doesn’t happen, kids might start rooming the streets and doing bad stuff. Sports can take the mind of the evils in this world and it’s a great way to fight obesity. My opinion is that the NFL needs to stop being bitches and lift the lockout.

Today I read an article with the title of 'Bravest woman in Mexico' seeks asylum in United States. I read that she will always get a phone call from a restricted number . She didn’t know who it was he would always call her. One day I think like march 1 he told her to get ready because he was going to go pick her up or something like that. She got scared because also her mom told her that she had seen weird suspicious cars around the neiborhood. She told her husband to grab their one year old son. Four months after headlines around the world heralded her as the "bravest woman in Mexico," Valles Garcia plotted a hasty escape across a remote border crossing in West Texas.

Today I read about a store outside of California called the “Walmart of Weed.” In Arizona, the weGrow Store have the supplies to grow their own weed. The state of Arizona filed a federal lawsuit last week asking the courts to determine whether the voter-approved initiative legalizing medical marijuana is legal. So far, about 4,000 Arizonans became state-authorized marijuana users after the state began issuing the cards on April 15. The first weGrow store was a 15,000-square-foot facility that opened in Oakland last year, and then a 10,000-square-foot store opened in Sacramento, California.
