Monday. Today I read about a police officer to was shot. A day after he was shot, they pronounced him dead on Sunday at the hospital where he was taken. He was suspected to be involved in a shooting on Saturday at In-N-Out burger. He then evaded police officers in a high-speed chase. The man was later cornered in his house, and shot to death by police. The investigators also reported that he had left a two-page suicide note, but did not say how he intended to kill himself.

In today's blog there was a man that died during the triathlon of swimming. The man that was hurt failed to mention the severe nature of his health and had to be treated immediately on site by a medical staff team. There was also another lady who was injured but not as severe as the man. The team was to do a 1,500-meter swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride and a 10-kilometer run, according to the event's website. The swim portion of Sunday's event was held in the Hudson River, the biking portion was on Manhattan's West Side highway, and the run was in Central Park.

Today I read about violence that appears to have initially been sparked by last week's shooting death of a 29-year-old man broke out for a third consecutive day Monday this time in daylight -- with gangs of youths marauding through at least two areas of the city. In the Hackney area of East London, they attacked a police car and shops. Video showed riot police involved in skirmishes, youths destroying a police car, smashing shop windows, a sporting goods shop being looted and the window of another shop being smashed. He described the people carrying out the acts as young people whose faces were covered with masks. The renewed unrest came after police announced the arrest of more than 100 people Sunday and Monday in connection with riots Saturday night in the city's Tottenham neighborhood and continued violence in isolated outbreaks elsewhere in the city on Sunday.

I read There is much speculation surrounding the circumstances of the death of 29-year-old Mark Duggan in north London on Thursday. His shooting at the hands of police while he was riding in a cab sparked a weekend of rioting and looting across the capital that continued into Monday.

Officers from Operation Trident -- the Metropolitan Police unit that deals with gun crime in London's black communities -- stopped the cab during an attempted arrest and soon afterwards shots were fired, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said. Duggan, a father of four, was fatally wounded.

Tuesday. Today I read about a ten year-old boy, who was with his mother in a car, and then began sobbing. His dad deployed in Afghanistan, and well his son really missed him. Braydon’s mother asked him, what was wrong, and Braydon said he missed his father. His mom told CNN that the child is so close to his father Bryan. Like a miniature version of him. One night, when she was putting him to sleep, Braydon had a worried look in his face, and began crying. His mom stepped outside, and the phone rang, it was Bryan’s current wife saying that Bryan had died. She did not know what to do, so she called her brother over, and together they talked to Braydon. Braydon sobbed for what it seemed like hours. When he saw the news he was upset that his father’s photo was not featured. Even more, when his brother was the one driving the Chinook. So Braydon made an iReport on CNN, and his story touched millions, and his father’s photo was featured.

Today I read about Warren Jeffs was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday after a jury deliberated for only 30 minutes. The polygamist sect leader was convicted last week on two counts of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old who were his "spiritual wives." The jury sentenced him to life in prison for the first count of aggravated sexual assault and 20 years for the second count of sexual assault plus a $10,000 fine. The sentences were the maximum allowed for each count. The judge ruled that the sentences be served consecutively. On Monday, the two sides rested their cases, without the defense calling any witnesses. Jeffs, the leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was charged after a 2008 raid on a ranch his church operates near Eldorado, Texas.

Today I read about Suspected Peruvian drug traffickers have destroyed a guard post protecting a recently discovered indigenous tribe in Brazil's Amazon rain forest, the aid group Survival International reports. Aerial film and still images of the tribe were first shown to the world in February. The Brazilian government's National Indian Foundation established the guard station near the tribe's territory along Brazil's border with Peru to protect the Indians from outsiders. Survival International reports the tribe's lands are near the Envira River, which Peruvian cocaine smugglers reportedly use as a route into Brazil. Brazilian authorities report groups of men armed with machine guns and rifles are in the nearby forest, according to the aid group.

In today's reading, the dna on the jacket found did not match the dna of the suspect in the D.B cooper case. New testing was done after Marla Cooper of Oklahoma told federal authorities that she believed a man she knew as Uncle L.D. was actually missing skyjacker D.B. Cooper. It was said that the new suspect "has not been ruled out as a suspect," FBI Special Agent Frederick Gutt said. In November 1971, a man calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked a plane and succeeded in getting authorities to give him $200,000 and parachutes in return for letting passengers off the plane.

James Craig Anderson, a 49-year-old auto plant worker was beat in a parking lot by by 18-year-old Deryl Dedmon, Jr., repeatedly, yelled racial epithets, including "White Power!“. I read A week ago, 10-year-old Braydon Nichols started to think about his dad and how much he missed him.
Army Chief Warrant Officer Bryan Nichols, a helicopter pilot, had been deployed for two months in Afghanistan.
The little boy, in the car with his mother running errands, brushed back his dirty-blond hair and ran his hand over his cheek.
Jessica Nichols looked over when she heard sniffles. Her son was crying.
"When is Dad coming back so we go camping?" he asked her.
Soon, she assured him. "Your dad is off fighting for this country."
The boy replied, "As soon as he gets home, we're going to go on a camping trip, just me and him." Jessica Nichols cannot stop replaying that scene in her mind. That's because only a few days later, on Saturday night, she was cradling her boy who was crying once again. Except this time she could not tell him that his father was coming home. She had just received a call informing her that Bryan Nichols was one of the 30 Americans who died that afternoon when their Chinook helicopter was shot down in Wardak province in east-central Afghanistan.

Wednesday. Today I read about a woman who was brutally mauled by a chimpanzee who belonged to her friend. The chimp left her without eyelids, lips, hands, nor a nose. The police could not even determine her gender at first. The doctors were not so sure if Charla would survive. After two years of the attack, physicians have released the first pictures after her surgery. She received a full face transplant in May. This was the hospital’s third or fourth successful full face surgery.

Thursday. Today I read about Braydon, the ten-year old boy who made an iReport on his dad, who died in Afghanistan. He received many comments from people on CNN. His mother says that he doesn’t respond to them, because he might be overwhelmed by all of it. Some people want to send him letters so he won’t feel too lonely. Others wrote many touching messages to him. A close friend of the family, and best friend with Bryan, wants to set up a pay-pal account so people can fund money straight to Braydon for his college. As soon as the account is verified, CNN will post a direct link.

Today I read about Five American service members were killed Thursday after an improvised explosive device. The attack occurred several days after 30 Americans died in a helicopter crash in central-eastern Afghanistan. That was America's worst single-incident loss of life since the war began. No other details were provided regarding Thursday's incident. On Wednesday, Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi told reporters that coalition forces had killed 189 militants in joint operations against Taliban insurgents across the country in the past three weeks.

Desperate times call for a tall, cool glass of creativity in this patch of West Texas where water is scarce and quickly disappearing. But a plan to pump millions of new gallons of drinking water into the system has many people across West Texas holding their noses. This week construction started on a $13 million water-reclamation facility. That's a fancy way of describing a treatment plant that will turn sewage wastewater into drinking water. That's not something I even want to think about, aid Eunice Thixton, a Big Spring resident. "It really doesn't sound too good."There are three major reservoirs that provide drinking water for half a million people who live around Midland, Texas. But the drought is draining those lakes and threatens to create major water shortages in the months ahead.

Today I read about A brutal mauling by a friend's pet chimpanzee left Charla Nash without a nose, eyelids, lips or hands. Police initially couldn't determine her gender. Doctors weren't sure if she would survive. Now, more than two years later, physicians at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston have released the first post-surgery pictures of Nash since she received a full face transplant in May. In February 2009, Nash was helping a friend coax her 14-year-old pet chimp, Travis, back into the house. When Nash arrived, the chimp, who had been featured in television commercials for Coca-Cola and Old Navy, jumped on her and began biting and mauling her. Police later shot Travis to stop the attack and he died of gunshot wounds. Her new face, she said, has brought her back to life.

Today I read about Los Angeles detectives have vastly expanded their investigation into the "Grim Sleeper" serial killer case and are now looking at whether any of 230 murders are connected to the alleged slayer, police said Wednesday. In April, police were investigating the Grim Sleeper's connection to 55 unidentified women -- a quarter of what they're now probing -- whose photographs were found among 180 videos and photos taken from the Los Angeles home of Lonnie David Franklin Jr. Now, authorities have widened their inquiry to include all homicides that occurred in a general area of south Los Angeles where Franklin lived from the 1970s, when he got out of the military, through the 1980s,

That amounts to about 230 murders, and even though some had been believed to have been solved, police are taking a second look at all of them. He is accused of killing females ranging from ages 14 to 36 between August 1985 and January 2007. Many of the victims were prostitute. Most of the victims were discovered dumped in south Los Angeles alleys and covered with debris.

Today Thursday I read about Before they started appearing in court, most people assumed London's rioters and looters were unemployed youths with no hope and no future.
So there was much surprise when details of the accused began to emerge, and they included some from wealthy backgrounds or with good jobs.
Those passing through London's courtrooms on Tuesday and Wednesday -- some courts sat overnight to cope with the numbers -- have included a teaching assistant, a lifeguard, a postman, a chef, a charity worker, a millionaire's daughter and an 11-year-old boy, newspapers reported.

Today Thursday I read about When you have flown through a heavy storm, the plane tossing one way and another, have you ever wondered whether there was really anyone in the cockpit? That's the feeling that many Americans have today -- as if we are lurching through an economic storm with no one in charge. Ordinarily in a crisis, people keep their hopes up because a leader steps forward and instills faith that eventually, this, too, shall pass. Think of Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Depression and World War II, calming the country with his fireside chats. Think of John F. Kennedy in the Cuban missile crisis. Or Walter Cronkite during the Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. assassinations. Ronald Reagan after his shooting. Or Rudy Giuliani on 9/11.

Today I read about the courts releasing the audiotapes that convicted warren Jeffs a child rapist. The girls claim that they were his “spiritual wives” to have sex with him. Last week, a Texas jury sentenced Jeffs , 55, to life in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl and 20 years in prison for the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. The tapes, that were obtained by many media outlets including the Salt Lake Tribune and CNN affiliate KSTU on Thursday, contain what prosecutors say is evidence of Jeffs instructing underage girls to have sex with him.

Today I read about French shoemaker Christian Louboutin is seeing red and will likely be seeing a lot more of it after a judge in Manhattan denied an injunction that would have kept fellow designer Yves Saint Laurent from selling shoes with red soles. The lawsuit, filed in June, takes issue with four specific shoes from YSL's Cruise 2011 Collection: the Tribute, Tribtoo, Palais and Woodstock models, claiming the shoes violate Louboutin's trademarked lacquered red sole. Lewin said he's never had such an outpouring from his fellow attorneys, law professors and members of the fashion industry, telling him, This verdict is an abomination. Tell your client to appeal.

Friday. Today I read about a boy who is being charged with first-degree murder for the death of his school principal. Police said the boy followed through his plan to kill his principal of the small private school he attended. The police say the boy is 17, and Mitchell says he is 16. CNN usually does not indentify juveniles charged with crimes, unless being tried as adults. But in Tennessee there is a law that allows police to publicly identify juveniles charged with first-degree murder. The principal was found lying in a pool of blood, with multiple stab wounds. According to investigators, the boy had a grudge on the teacher all summer for switching him out of a class he liked. All summer long he planned on how to get revenge.

A former Pennsylvania juvenile judge was sentenced to 28 years in prison Thursday after being convicted for a scheme to make millions off unjustly incarcerating young people, court officials said. Former Luzerne County Judge Mark Ciavarella was also ordered by a federal judge in Pennsylvania to pay about $1 million in restitution. The sentence was four times the 87 months sentence that Ciavarella and federal prosecutors had agreed to when he pleaded guilty to charges in 2009. But that plea deal was thrown out by a federal judge and the case went to trial.
