Monday. Today I read about boxing and teens. Many teens just can’t seem to ever stop fighting, so they join boxing to take out their frustration, and to do something fun. Pediatricians are trying to knock out boxing, since it can cause head injuries and concussions. The main concern is serious head injuries among kids and teens. Many of young boxers are known to suffer concussions. Young boxers, as shown by tests can develop chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a condition caused by repetitive blows to the head that can lead to dementia like symptoms later in life. Boxing can keep you out of trouble, but have consequences in the long run.

Today I read about A Nigerian militant group has claimed responsibility after a car loaded with explosives rammed into the United Nations' building in the capital, killing about 20. The suicide attack Friday shattered windows, set the building ablaze and left gaping holes on the walls. Radical Muslim sect, Boko Haram, which aims to enforce a strict version of Sharia law, has claimed responsibility. The number of injuries was unclear but they were many. The attack targeted a building that housed 26 U.N. humanitarian and development agencies. The Liberian and U.S. embassies are also nearby. This was an assault on those who devote their lives to helping others. Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan described the suicide bombing as barbaric, senseless and cowardly and intensified security around the capital.

Today I read about teams in northern California that called air power Sunday as they try to rein in a wildfire in the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Yosemite National Park a fire official said. The three day old blaze which is known as the motor fire has expanded to 4755 acres since it started on Thursday, according to a spokesman at the Interagency Fire Command named Jed Friedman. Friedman said in an attempt to keep them from spreading a DC-10 tanker dumped fire retardant on the flames on Sunday.

Today I read about Deadly casino fire 'got out of control,' suspects tell police. The suspects arrested in connection with a Mexico casino fire told investigators that civilians were not their target, but that the blaze "got out of control," killing 52 people and injuring others, including some of the alleged perpetrators, officials said Tuesday. The governor and attorney general of Nuevo Leon state, which shares a border with Texas, revealed new details in the investigation into last week's fire before presenting the five suspects arrested so far to the media. Authorities are looking for seven additional people who were involved, de la Garza said.
Police are also searching for the majority owner of the Casino Royale, Raul Rocha Cantu, who is believed to have fled to the United States, de la Garza said. Some of the suspects were directly involved in the fire, while others were accomplices, Nuevo Leon Gov. Rodrigo Medina said. The cartel members had backgrounds that included kidnapping and homicide, he said. Mexican citizens are sometimes accused of cowering to the violence or turning a blind eye to it. But after this incident, they made their voices heard through announcements made in the local newspapers. The ambush left a charred shell of a building where the high-end casino had once stood. Photos of the scene at the Casino Royale showed singed slot machines. A video released by Mexican authorities showed armed men bursting into the casino carrying what they said were gallons of gasoline. Seconds later, dozens of people fled as smoke and fire engulfed the building. More than 34,600 people have died since Calderon announced a crackdown on cartels in December 2006, according to government statistics. Other reports have listed higher tolls. The latest Mexican government tally was released in January.
Today I read about an uncle of President Barack Obama was arrested last week in Framingham, Massachusetts, for allegedly operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Onyango Obama was arrested on August 24 after failing a field sobriety test. An administration official confirmed to CNN that the arrested man is the half-brother of President Obama's father. There was no other administration comment immediately available. According to a federal law enforcement source who spoke on condition of not being identified, Onyango Obama was not legally in the United States and has been previously ordered removed from the country. His case is now going through the immigration process. According to a statement from Framingham police, an officer in an unmarked police cruiser stopped Onyango Obango just after 7 p.m. after a sport utility vehicle he was driving failed to make a proper stop at an intersection.
Tuesday. Today I read about a virus that the United Nations is warning about. There is some indications that a mutant strain avian flu may be spreading in Asia. The H5N1 avian influenza virus can bypass the defenses of current vaccines with unpredictable risks to humans. This has appeared in Vietnam and China. About 565 people have been affected by the virus since it emerged in 2003. It has caused 331 deaths according to the World Health Organization. The Avian flu has also directly killed over 400 million poultry and caused economic losses estimated at $20 billion before being eliminated from most of the 63 countries infected at its 2006 peak. The virus is known to still be present in China, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Egypt.

The 2 or 3 day old baby girl was found Sunday by a trash boy not clear of how long she had been dead for. They believe it was a man & a woman who had entered the store with a large bag that appeared to be dragging on the floor. When she entered the store she immidetly went into the bathroom. She was in there for at least 4 minutes and when she came out she was dressed differently and the bag seemed to be lighter.

Despite the sunny sky, flood warnings remained in effect Wednesday for areas of several states hard-hit by Hurricane Irene, as authorities struggled to clean up and rebuild roads and bridges in the aftermath of the storm.
"Nobody that got hit with this flooding dodged a bullet," Craig Fugate, Federal Emergency Management Agency administrator, said Wednesday. "Loss of life, extensive damages, homes flooded. ... It may not have been as big a deal on the coast, but these flood areas definitely got hit hard."
Today I read about eleven people killed and 21 injured when a car bomb exploded Wednesday near a crowd of worshippers celebrating Eid al-Fitr in southwest Pakistan. The attack occurred in the city of Quetta in Balochistan province. The suicide bomber was trying to get farther into the crowd to cause maximum damage but was stopped by strict security measures. Today I read the worlds top 10 most livable cities are Melbourne, Australia , Vienna, Austria , Vancouver, Canada , Toronto, Canada , Calgary, Canada , Sydney, Australia , Helsinki, Finland , Perth, Australia , Adelaide, Australia , Auckland, New Zealand. That’s according to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s ranking of 140 cities worldwide that “quantifies the challenges that might be presented to an individual’s lifestyle,” according to the report.
For the first time in a decade, Vancouver has been topped by the southern Australian city of Melbourne, based on metrics that weigh stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and a city’s infrastructure . At the bottom of the list: Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire,Tehran, Iran, Douala, Cameroon, Karachi, Pakistan, Tripoli, Libya, Algiers, Algeria, Lagos, Nigeria, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Harare, Zimbabwe
The “Arab Spring” has hurt livability ratings of cities in the Middle East and North Africa, with Tripoli – which has unraveled into street fighting in recent weeks – ranking among the worst cities for the first time .
Libyan teen says Gadhafi's troops forced her to execute rebels
By Arwa Damon, CNN
Nisreen lies listless curled under a blanket, an armed rebel guard at her door.
She looks vulnerable, and younger than her age - 19. She has soft features, a heart-shaped face, large brown eyes and full lips.
She speaks haltingly, often falling into a tortured silence, unable to verbalize her thoughts and emotions as haunting images of what she did play out like a curse in her mind. Nisreen became an executioner for Moammar Gadhafi's forces. She admits she murdered 11 rebels, all prisoners of the Gadhafi regime. (CNN is not identifying Nisreen with her full name because of her experiences in Gadhafi's all-female brigade.)
Thursday. Today I read about An 8-foot-long alligator sank its teeth into a 90-year-old woman's leg and tried to drag her into a canal in southern Florida. Margaret Webb was walking in her flooded yard Wednesday in rural Copeland, Florida, about 80 miles west of Miami, when the alligator lunged at her and grabbed her by her left leg, Daniels shot the alligator between the eyes with a .22 Magnum rifle, according to the incident report from the wildlife commission, and it retreated into the water. Two wildlife officers and trapper David Regel returned to the site of the attack early Thursday morning to search for the alligator in the canals surrounding Webb's home.
Today I read Authorities have found what appears to be a severed human foot this week, the 11th found in waterways in British Columbia in the past four years. The discovery of another foot, this one still stuck in a running shoe, adds to the mystery that has confounded Canadians for years. A boy found the foot and leg bone Tuesday near a marina in an inlet called False Creek, Vancouver Police said. Foul play is not suspected, authorities told Canadian Broadcasting Corp. Authorities believe that because the remains did not have any evidence of trauma. The British Columbia Coroners Service has in the past said it was conducting DNA profile tests to determine the identities of the remains. Some of the feet have been identified through DNA, but the reason they turn up where they do is still unknown in most cases.
Today Thursday I read about More than 250,000 secret U.S. diplomatic cables are now available in full and unfiltered online, exposing scores of U.S. diplomatic sources and informants that were meant to be protected often for their own safety, according to the website WikiLeaks. But this is not an official WikiLeaks release. Rather, what appears to be a string of errors has lead to both the raw file and the password that unlocks that file to be released into the public domain, without WikiLeaks control.

Margaret Webb was walking in her flooded yard Wednesday in rural Copeland, Florida, about 80 miles west of Miami, when the alligator lunged at her and grabbed her by her left leg. Dewain Daniels, who was driving by, stopped to help the woman and pulled her out of the water away from the alligator. But that didn't stop the huge reptile, which tried to come out of the water three times. Daniels shot the alligator between the eyes with a .22 Magnum rifle and it retreated into the water.
August 24 a 21-year-old teacher, was brutally beaten then stabbed to death by her 15-year-old former lover, who also happened to be her student. The reason he killed her was because she had an abortion. It really is a shame that all he got was six years. I get that he's a minor, but it seems like an awfully short time for beating someone, murdering them, and leaving a 3-year-old without her mother. He should have gotten life. Her last word was "Paige," her 3-year-old daughter.

Today I read about the Dawabsha family members say the lack of resources mean they were not able to provide the girls with the necessary care and it was when the two girls began leaving the home in the middle of the night and entering neighbors' houses that the family resorted to tying them up. So while Nedaa and Mohedeye are currently being looked after, their future is uncertain as is that of other Palestinians requiring treatment for mental disabilities.
Thursday. Today I read about a woman who waited for her husband, in their minivan while he was in his routine check-in with immigration officials. The woman waited for him for about an hour, and she did not know what to do. Her husband, Chally Dang, then collect-called her and told her that the immigration officials were not letting him go. In June, he was sent to Cambodia, when he was 15 he was charged after he had fired an illegal handgun into the air. He was charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, and possessing criminal instruments.
i read Last September, Ana Maria Cruz waited in her minivan outside an immigration office, clutching her fiance's keys, wallet and cell phone.
Cruz, then eight months pregnant and with two of the couple's other children in tow, began to worry when Chally Dang took longer than usual to emerge from what should have been a routine check-in with immigration officials.

A missing girl was found dead in Buenos Aires Argentina. She was found naked inside a garbage bag in Buenos Aires Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. It was a tragic ending to the story of Candela Rodriguez, 11, who became an icon and symbol for the more than 200 missing children in the country. Police are investigating the motive for Candela's kidnapping and killing, though early indications point to an extortion plot against her father. Her body was found in a lot where a demolished building once stood, by someone who was sifting through trash there.
Friday. Today I read about the government publishing that it has not received any threats for the anniversary of September 11. However, they will be aware of anything and everything. Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano, said that usually terrorist organizations have occasionally planned their attacks to relate to a certain date on the calendar. People who studied the attacks, say that the attacks are mostly targeted to be in New York, Washington, and many other communities. There has been no news that Al Qaeda will do anything, but we know what they are capable of. After the raid, and capture of Osama Bin Laden, plans of mayhem during 9/11 were heard.

Today I read about Edward "Ned" Kelly packed a lot of living, stealing and killing in his scant 25 years. So much so that Mick Jagger portrayed him in a movie. As did Heath Ledger. Australian artist Sidney Nolan made Ned Kelly the subject of a series of paintings. The cattle rustler, robber and cop killer was hanged in November 1880 after a string of crimes, including the deaths of three police officers in one incident. His reputed last words: "Such is life."Some scholars and observers have described the outlaw as cold-blooded and egotistical. Author Clive Turnbull said the son of an Irish immigrant showed courage, independence and sympathy for the underdog. One problem emerged in the process of identifying the remains, however: The skull from the Old Melbourne Gaol wasn't a match.

When compared with firefighters who did not work at ground zero, firefighters working the pile were 19% more likely to get a cancer diagnosis.
