Title: Spices
In today’s reading I read about Mustard. I learned that mustard first came from Mediterranean countries. Mustards name came from mustard seeds with grape juice. Mustard- “must” means grape juice and “ard” comes from to burn. Mustard is very hot. I read that there are two types of mustards seeds, brown and white. It says that brown mustard has a stronger taste. The white mustard is milder. I personally don’t like either of them ,except for the spicy brown mustard! I can only put a little bit on my hotdog. I prefer ketchup over mustard.
There are three kinds of mustard, English, French and American. Americans mostly put mustard on their sandwiches, hotdogs, and burgers.
What I didn’t know before was that mustard use to be used to ease muscle pain. If you had a sore muscle, mustard would then be wrapped in cloth around your muscle pain. I can’t imagine wrapping a piece of mustard cloth on my ankle when I sprained it. It must smell afterwards!
One thing I found most interesting is that mustard was believed to ease headaches and colds. Next time when a student complains that they have a headache I am going to tll them to go and smell a packet of mustard!!

Title: Our Lady of Guadalupe
Our Lady of guadalupe is the most important religious symbol of mexico and one of the most powerful female icons of mexican culture. based on research done among second-generation Mexican culture. the person was considered to be born faceless and with a nameless heart. it was through education that the child was introduced into the tradition of the group and thus his face was gradually formed. She goes beyond the thematic and religious implications of the symbol to delve into its relevance to their daily lives.

The section i read was The Richer scale. In 1935, American sientist Charles Richer created a scale for comparing the magnitudes of earthquakes. The Ritcher scale is based on a formula and ranks earthquakes from 1 to 10 on a scale. If an earthquake of magnitude 1 releases very little energy, what do you think an earthquake of magnitude 10 means, "WATCH OUT THERES A BIG ONE COMING", there is a major quake coming our way. My threee sentence thoughts on this story I READ.Is i think its cool that this guy came up with a scale that can tell what kind or strong an earthquake is coming. Anther fact i learned that was intresting was in 1935 a american scientist, Charles Ritcher created a scale for comparing the magnitudes of earthquakes. One intresting fact i learned in this section i read was that a earthquake scale of 10 means run, duck, cover becase its a big one.

The book I read is “when the wind blows”. In the book there is a girl name max as im reading it seem s that she lives in the mountains because it says that her throat hurts up the mountains and she is running as fastest she can from the school. She was pretty but she had some dark circles under her eyes like if she hasn’t being sleeping well. When she finally stopped she turn around and she didn’t saw her brother Mathew and she thought where is he at. She said that the last time she saw him was in school but when they got out she didn’t saw him again. Max was afraid that her brother could be dead. The uncle Thomas probably got him and she thought that Thomas has betrayed them. Max started crying thinking that the hunters were closing in.
I think that the book is real interesting and that little girl might have done something to her so she can be that scared. Another thing I think is that uncle Thomas is a real bad person. Another taught is that it might be real hard to be scared of going to school.

I think that the most important fact is when I was reading and it said that she had some dark circles under her eyes.

The Native Americans

I read about the native Americans. The Indian cultures of the southeast in the nineteenth century and the first half were products of a long period of change. Thousands of years of cultural development in this region were rudely diverted and truncated by the arrival of Europeans in the early 16th century. The scale of the cultural and biological disaster that was visited on the southeastern Indians. Some of the southeastern tribes are Alabama. The Alabama population was less than 1,000 in the year 1704, after 1763 they were dispersed, some joining the Seminoles and creeks and most going to Texas with the Koasatis. By 1910 the population was only 300.I think that all the history of the Native Americans is very interesting.

Title: lizards
What I had read was about lizards, some things that were interested was like tail shedding is a protective mechanism that keeps a predator occupied with the wriggling appendage while the main body of the animal quickly make its escape. Also the type of housing you will use for your pet lizards will depend on the size of the species you intend to keep and ecological requirements. What I had liked about the book was the pictures because I see all the other lizards. And the interesting thing was when lizards are in some kind of diet they eat insects like spiders, snails, grasshoppers, crickets…

Title: Who Moved MY Cheese?
Todays reading was about two mice named Sniff, Scurry and two little people Hem, and Haw.They were in a maze running around looking for cheese so they can be happy. They wake up get dress and go in to the maze looking for there own special cheese in Cheese Station C. Then one day in Cheese Station C they found a lot of cheese to last forever. Then later on they found Cheese Station N and they remember how to get there. When they got there they found what they been looking for a great supply of New York Cheese. It was the biggest store of cheese they ever saw. Hem and Haw alwayz argue and are mad because they never had cheese. That was todays reading.
I think that this book is very confusing. It talks about some wired stuff and is about mice who are in a maze. I feel that this book should of never be made.
One of the mices name was Scurry.

Title:Slaves No More
In Today's reading I learn about Slaves No More. The civil war ended slavery but left the south a ruined land. The rebuilding of the south was called reconstruction {1865-1877}. In 1865 congress set up the freedmen’s bureau to help make life better for the freed African Americans. Many people in the south were not ready to accept African Americans as equals. They wanted things to remain as they had been before the Civil War. By 1877 Reconstruction was over. Some states required voters to be able to read and understand any section of the state constitution. Without an education most African Americans.
I think that the Civil War was good in some ways cause it made things good.
Ithink that it was good that the African Americans free and now they could vote.

The book i am reading is called "ROME". In ancient Rome, most people in their country made their living by farming. They lived in homes made of mud bricks and wood. farming was hard work. The families spent little time in their houses. Most of the time they worked in the fields. Their houses had little furniture and very few windows. The most important crops were olives and grapes.People also raised pigs and sheep.

Wild Animals
Today i read about gorillas and chimpanzees. I learn that gorillas are shy and gentle. They’re also intelligent and very strong. Dominant males are called “silverbacks” because of their colour. Chimpanzees are excitable but adult chimpanzees can be dangerous. There are also other types of monkeys like the white-handed gibbon, pig-tailed macaque, gelada, mandrill, vervet monkey, patas monkey, abyssinian colobus, proboscis, squirrel monkey, humboldt’s woolly, white-faced saki, and common marmoset. One interesting fact that I learn today is that gorillas are very shy and I always thought that they were wild. Another thing that was new to me is that there are many types of monkeys.

The valley of the golden mummies Today I read that the is being hailed as the most sensational find since King Tut's tomb: the expeditions of the mummies were the most important job on the middle east .
I think that the book is really good.
I believe that if the author makes more about Mexican history it will b better
The mummies are the best information of our people on the past.
